Practical Matters – separating the “signal” from the ” sparkle”
Updated T’s & C’s, Privacy Policy – Service Vs. Marketing e-mails and what you need to know about how we work in 2026

When you signed up for PartfinderMarine.com, you were given the option to receive marketing updates from us or to opt out. As the platform has grown, we’ve had a few questions about what that choice means in practice, particularly around essential service communications.
As part of your agreement to use the platform, we also need to notify users of any legal or contractual changes that affect its operation. A recent update to our contact details within our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy prompted this clarification.
Think of this as separating signal from sparkle ✨📡 — there are two distinct types of communication.
What we must send
Service / Operational Communications (always sent)
These relate directly to the operation of the platform and include:
- Platform downtime or maintenance notices
- Security alerts or incident notifications
- Changes to terms, policies, or compliance requirements
- Changes that materially affect how the platform works
- Billing, subscription, renewal, or account status notices
- Mandatory commercial changes affecting access
These messages are required for the operation of the service and are not dependent on marketing consent.
What you can opt out of
Marketing Communications (consent-based only)
These stop as soon as a user opts out and include:
- Newsletters
- Product promotion
- Feature spotlights
- Success stories or testimonials
- Upsell or cross-sell communications
- Campaigns, offers, or surveys
Once consent is withdrawn, it remains withdrawn.
We’re currently updating the registration page to reflect this more clearly. Going forward, users who unsubscribe from marketing will receive the following confirmation:
“You have been unsubscribed from marketing communications.
You will no longer receive promotional or marketing emails from us. However, as an active platform user, you will continue to receive essential service communications relating to your account, platform availability, security notifications, and any technical, legal, or commercial changes required for the operation of the service”.
We also recommend keeping a copy of our Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy for reference.
